w/c 20th April
Welcome to the start of the Summer Term. I hope that you have all had a Happy Easter break. We loved the video of the children singing and dancing, what a lot of joy that brought, thank you!
As this term starts we know we are in lock down for another 3 weeks at least. We will continue to work together to ensure that the children have plenty of interesting and challenging learning opportunities. Thank you for all the observations that you are sending through on the ILD, please continue to do this. I am attaching some learning grids with ideas of activities, for the week, that the children should be able to do without too much adult support, I am aware that you have plenty of other commitments. I would, however, ask you to continue to hear them read and support them with phonics activities on a daily basis. Phonics is quite repetitive as the children need to hear, and see, sounds and words a number of times in order to be confident in reading them fluently, a short flash card challenge will require the input of adults or older siblings. I have loved hearing of the different learning that children are doing including caterpillars, crocodiles and construction, and hope that this will continue. I hope that the children will also write a 'helicopter story' once a week, these would usually be acted out by the rest of the class, this could be done by willing family members or toys! Don't forget that there is also much value in carrying out routine tasks, washing up, laying the table for a family meal, helping with cleaning and tidying. Have a good week, and please don't hesitate to contact me by email with any feedback or queries. Thank you for your support.
