Imagine your child's Mondays filled with outdoor learning sessions, where they can explore, experiment, and connect with the natural world around them, laying the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.

At Cutnall Green Pre-School, we understand the profound impact of early experiences on a child's development. That's why our dedicated team is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment where every child feels valued and empowered to explore their potential. Our holistic approach blends child-led and teacher-led activities, fostering a sense of curiosity, creativity, and resilience in each little learner as they prepare for the adventures ahead.

We believe in the power of play as a fundamental tool for learning. Each day at our Pre-school is a tapestry of rich experiences, from hands-on cooking sessions to imaginative outdoor play, from vibrant art projects to joyful music and movement activities. Through engaging activities like forest school adventures and visits from special guests, we ignite your child's curiosity and lay the groundwork for a lifelong love of learning.

As your child takes their first steps into the world of Pre-school, they will be welcomed into a caring community where every child's journey is cherished and celebrated. From the moment they join us, each child is assigned a dedicated key worker who serves as their guide and champion, supporting their growth and development every step of the way. With regular updates on your child's progress and a collaborative approach to learning, we ensure that every child thrives and flourishes in our nurturing environment.

A Day in Pre-School

Our newly built pre-school provides childcare for children aged 3 to 4 years of age. We are open during school term-time where pupils can attend for morning, afternoon sessions or all day. Pre-school has a large, open plan learning space for the children to learn and play. Our exciting environment encourages independence, ensuring children feel safe, supported and confident to explore the range of activities and learning opportunities available to them.

The pre-school building is surrounded by a large outdoor area with additional forest school area, Children will be invited to choose activities both indoors, and out, which is important for developing children’s natural curiosity.

Our Early Years provision enables every child to fulfill their potential, in a happy and safe environment. Learning opportunities are planned, building upon the individual interests of each child. Topics are organised to ensure learning is sequenced, enabling the children to experience a broad and balanced curriculum. We strive to make every day count in the early years, there are no limits placed upon what children learn in our early years setting.

The day begins with a story, in fact we use the power of stories to underpin much of our learning in pre-school. Children are given the opportunity to investigate, and explore the activities in both the indoor, and outdoor classroom. We stop for snack around 9:45am and use this time to begin to explore the value of routines, hygiene and good manners.

Phonics takes place after snack and is delivered for around 10 minutes in a fun and interactive way using Fred the Frog, more information regarding our phonics scheme; Read Write inc. is available on our school website. The children are invited to ‘choose’ an activity or work with an adult to extend their learning.

Lunch begins at 11:45am, pre-school join reception children for lunch, in the school hall.

Welly Wednesday

Forest school takes place on a Wednesday for pre-school. Our early years staff are Forest School trained, and the forest area is currently undergoing an exciting development, led by our Junior Leadership Team in school. It will have an outdoor classroom, pond, mud kitchen and a real campfire for the children to explore. Forest School activities are carefully planned and each week children will be introduced to a new skill often linked to the sustainable development goals; we want the children of our future to understand how to take care of their immediate environment in practical ways. Children often get muddy during forest school sessions; therefore, we suggest bringing wellies and a waterproof coat or all-in-one for forest play. Children love immersing themselves in the natural area and we do not place restrictions on them - the more mud the better!
