Supporting Families

At Cutnall Green C of E Primary, we understand the challenges families face in raising children. If you need extra help or support, please speak to your class teacher or a member of our Pastoral Team:

  • Mr King – Headteacher, DSL
  • Mrs H Smith – DDSL, Pastoral Team

How We Can Help

We can support families with issues such as:

  • Routines and family rules
  • Healthy eating and lifestyle
  • School attendance concerns
  • Caring responsibilities
  • Disability within the family
  • Special Educational Needs (SEND)
  • Behavioural challenges
  • Substance misuse
  • Online safety and social media
  • Financial or housing difficulties

Our Approach

  • Pupil Voice – pupils are actively encouraged to speak about any concerns they have to a member of staff or to our nurture team. There are other ways that the children can share their worries and concerns through Worry boxes, nurture team, school council.
  • STARS Values –  In all that we do and every decision we make, we use our values to guide us: Sharing, Trust, Achievement, Respect, Safety.
  • Curriculum and enrichment - Our curriculum, assemblies and educational trips give opportunities for the children to learn how to look after their own safety and wellbeing and to help others to stay safe.
  • Pastoral Support – We have a Pastoral Team who use the programme Motional, to identify needs and respond to adverse events in the lives of our children.
  • Forest School – Our forest school area is used within nurture – we understand the use of outdoor space is important for the children's emotional wellbeing.
  • Staff Training – Pupils know the staff take all their concerns very seriously. Staff have attended training in areas such as mental health and wellbeing, mindfulness, online safety and attachment.

Behaviour for Learning

We encourage and reward pupils throughout lessons and break times. Our approach is relationship-based, inclusive, and promotes emotional health and wellbeing. We celebrate each child’s individuality while supporting those who may experience behavioural challenges.

  • Rewards: Positive behaviours are recognised as outlined in our [Behaviour Policy].
  • Unwanted Behaviours: Managed according to the Behaviour Policy, which also details communication with parents and next steps.

Pastoral Support

Our Pastoral Team works with pupils and families to provide guidance and signpost to relevant agencies. With consent, we can refer families for targeted support.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Miss Trees (SENCO) supports children with additional needs and advises staff to ensure inclusive practice. She can also signpost parents to external agencies.

Safeguarding

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) maintain robust systems to ensure every child’s safety.

Whole-School Commitment

All staff are aware of the support available and how we can assist or signpost families to appropriate services.
